Xbox 360: o segundo console da Microsoft.

Xbox 360 é o segundo console de videogames lançado pela Microsoft e faz parte da sétima geração de consoles. Em função de diversos problemas de super aquecimento e capacidade de armazenamento, esse console teve diversas revisões de hardware, com placas e HDs diferentes ao longo de sua história.Os principais concorrentes do Xbox 360 são o Playstation 3, da Sony e o Nintendo Wii. Apesar do número de vendas do Nintendo Wii ser muito superior ao do Xbox 360 (muito em função da diferença de público-alvo entre os dois produtos), a disputa do público hardcore com o Playstation 3 foi bastante acirrada. O Xbox 360 suporta jogos no formato de vídeo 4:3 e 16:9 e suporte a resolução: 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, alguns jogos chegam a resolução de 1080 linhas progressivas(1080p).

História

O Xbox 360 foi anunciado no programa da MTV chamado Xbox 360 revelation, em maio de 2005, os detalhes do console foram mostrados posteriormente na conferência da E3 daquele ano. No Brasil o console tem uma característica importante, foi o primeiro console de videogame a ser vendido diretamente pelo fabricante no país, a data de venda oficial é 01 de dezembro de 2006.

A história do Xbox 360 (e também do Playstation 3) foi marcada por uma série de problemas técnicos e venda de unidades defeituosas. Em função de um problema relacionado à super aquecimento, muitas unidades tiveram que ser retornadas e o console recebeu diversas versões tentando corrigir o problema. Quando o videogame estava para deixar de funcionar o led em volta do botão de ligar piscava uma luz vermelha três vezes, o defeito acabou sendo apelidado de 3RL ou Three Red Lights of Death. O problema persistiu por alguns anos e os consumidores jogavam com receio de que seus videogames deixassem de funcionar um dia qualquer, para os mais azarados ainda restava uma solução não recomendada pela Microsoft, mas que ressuscitava o console por mais algum tempo: a técnica da toalha enrolada no videogame.

Acessórios

Sensor de movimento Kinect:

O Kinect foi um sensor de movimento criado pela Microsoft para tentar abocanhar uma fatia de mercado do público casual do seu rival Nintendo Wii, lançado em 5 de novembro de 2010 nos Estados Unidos. O acessório consiste em um sensor com câmeras que enxerga o ambiente em que o jogador se encontra e permite que o videogame seja controlado por movimentos e comandos de voz, sem a necessidade de nenhum tipo de joystick, apenas com o uso das mãos. Apesar da periférico revolucionário ele necessitava de um espaço relativamente amplo para funcionar bem e era afetado pela luz do sol, em função da utilizado de um sensor infravermelho, ainda assim estima-se que o acessório vendeu mais de 35 milhões de unidades.

Controle:

O controle do Xbox 360 seguiu em partes o layout do seu antecessor, o Xbox original. Os direcionais analógicos em posições diferentes acabaram send um dos principais diferenciais em relação ao controle do concorrente PS3, que seguia o mesmo layout desde o Dualshock 1. Sua conectividade nativa com computadores Windows fez desse controle uma das principais escolhas para jogadores de ambas as plataformas. Foi vendido em dois modelos diferentes: com fio e sem fio, a segunda versão sendo necessário a utilização de duas pilhas AA.

Xbox Live:

A Xbox Live foi criada de fato no Xbox original, mas podemos dizer que realmente floresceu e se desenvolveu no Xbox 360. Com o serviço de Xbox Live Gold os jogadores pagavam uma mensalidade e tinham acesso ao multiplayer online dos jogos, apesar da cobrança ser uma desvantagem em relação ao serviço do concorrente (Playstation Network), a rede era muito mais estável e a qualidade da conexão melhor na maioria dos casos (inclusive um dos motivos que influenciou a Sony a cobrar pelo serviço posteriormente no Playstation 4). Outra novidade para a época que a plataforma trouxe foi a existência de um Marketplace onde os usuários poderiam comprar jogos e outros conteúdos multimídia de maneira digital. Com o tempo além do acesso ao multiplayer online, o serviço passou a distribuir também jogos gratuitos mensalmente para os assinantes, com o programa Games with Gold (uma resposta direta ao serviço Playstation Plus da Sony).

Jogos exclusivos

O Xbox 360 teve uma biblioteca extensa de jogos exclusivos, tanto a estúdios ligados à própria Microsoft quanto de produtoras externas. Algumas séries cresceram muito ao longo da vida do console, como no caso de Halo que nasceu no Xbox Original e foi amplamente expandido no Xbox 360, Gears of War que praticamente redefiniu o estilo de tiro em terceira pessoa com seu sistema de cover e Forza Motorsport que tirou o trono outrora absoluto de Gran Turismo:

A Microsoft tem histórico de honrar a história de seus consoles com funcionalidades de retrocompatibilidade, apesar dessa função não estar presente nos modelos mais novos do console, a lista de jogos compatíveis é extensa.
